MountainDad and I finally polished off that big bottle of tequila and he took it to the recycle box. I told him, "don't bother, we don't recycle glass." Then I began to think, "Why not?" Since we discard so little glass, I felt it wasn't worth even thinking about. But then I thought about the recycling process and it occurred to me that one glass bottle becomes part of thousands once it's on the truck.
Here I was, catching myself not only allowing something so large to miss the recycling truck, but also something that will take up a big spot in the landfill. Now, I no longer have a list of items that we recycle, just the trash company's list of acceptable items. What was I thinking?
